The 2011 Costume Institute Gala took place yesterday. I, like most, was transfixed on all the exquisite fashion displayed throughout the red carpet arrivals. This is like the Oscars for the fashion world – where drama and over-the-top is accepted and welcomed.
My go to site for the most flattering photos was Fashionologie. I initially selected my top 25 favorite costumes but for your sake and mine I have narrowed this down to a top 10. My selection gravitated towards the bold colors mostly. It could be that I am influenced by this seasons’ color blocking scheme. So here is my top 10. Do you agree?
Eva Mendes in Stella McCartney: A lot of Spanish-fan-like pleats this season. I like the 70’s feel of this dress.
Isabel Lucas in Louis Vuitton: Here we have the pleats once more.
Ginnifer Goodwin custom Topshop: I love it all. And her makeup was insane.
Chanel Iman in Dolce & Gabbana: Lace is also a big part of this seasons what to wear. I love the simplicity and elegance of this dress.
Claire Danes in Calvin Klein: Again… clean and perfect.
Gwyneth Paltrow in Stella McCartney: This is very safe, very predictable Gwen. But it suits her and like it a lot.
Diane Kruger in Jason Wu: This may be my favorite.
Michelle Williams in custom Miu Miu: I feel that with Michelle its sometimes hit or miss. I think this is a hit. I love it.
Maggie Gyllenhaal in Stella McCartney: It’s like a silhouette. It’s perfect. And she has a body for days.
