Oh, how I LOVE this time of year! It brings back so many wonderful memories of being a kid. I can still vividly remember decorating the bottom of the Christmas Tree while my grandma baked fruit cakes, the scent filling the entire house. Always in the background, without a fail, was the Jackson 5 Christmas Album… eternally stuck on Drummer Boy. Love their version.
I remember one year while living abroad, we asked the gardner to bring us a pine tree. He instead brought us a Cherry Tree. I cried. I cried a lot. A LOT! But my grandma, bless her, told me that this tree, with just the right amount of lights and bows could be the best Christmas Tree ever! And she was right. I was 8 years old and I can still see this like it was yesterday. I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!
And so I’m slowly preparing for the season: cleaning, decorating and planning the menu for my now 2nd annual ‘Cookie Jam 2010’. It’s a small intimate affair but one I’ve been looking forward too for a while. I have two weeks to get it together but in the mean time, here’s just a little hint of what has been going on in my little apartment.
I found these really amazing Holiday Cards at Marshalls for a fraction of the original prize. As set of 10 Crane & CO. cards originally prized at $28 came home with me for less than $10.
Next I added some twinkle to my living room. So Pretty!
This beautiful Christmas Town ceramic set is usually the first thing I bring out. It was give to me by a dear friend’s Dad. It was a simple gesture but one I hold very dear.
This is the invite to my ‘Cookie Jam 2010’. I’m excited and a little nervous. I have yet to find the perfect cookie dough recipe. Last years was provided courtesy of the Pillsbury Doughboy. I need to consult Martha Stewart.
So there you have it. I must warn you though, moving forward all post during the month of December will reek of Holiday. So come on and get happy with me!
