This past Saturday I went to my very first Green Day concert; mud, drunks, and lawn chairs included. Billy Joe was awesomely entertaining and engaging with the fans. So much energy. And Tré Cool, man I’ve always loved the way he drums! They played all the favorites and even treated us to a medley of classics by Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi and others. The crowd was pumped the entire three hours and completely captivated during the acoustic solos. The highlight was when BJ brought a lady on stage to sign (language) the lyrics to his song… he then took off his guitar and gifted it to her. WIN!
Going to see them was a great last minute impulse decision. I was jealous of my friend Kristen having seeing them earlier for her birthday. Wouldn’t you be? So when she asked if I was interested in seeing them again with her, I of course could not resist. Needles to say I was stoked.
Green Day has undoubtedly given us over twenty yeas of the greatest alternative punk rock music ever. What’s crazy is that they have the ability to reach every generation and continue to do so. Entire families were there; even father’s who took their sons for the first time. It was something great to see and experience. Such a great night!
Here are some photos I took – not the best since we didn’t have floor seats but still they’re a bit “artistic” looking… at least that’s what I would like to think. I hope you like them.
