Dear NYC Music Scene,
I am sorry i have neglected you for this long. Hopefully this year i am able to better commit to the live music scene i love so much. For now i am happy to report i seem to be off to a good start. Here i reintroduce you to Tori Kelly.
I developed a slight obsession with Tori Kelly’s voice a few months back when a friend introduced me to her and her acoustic cover of PYT by Michael Jackson (see previous post here and please hold on or sit down at the 2:22 mark and on. Trust me). Same friend soon learned she would be playing at the Gramercy Theatre this past Tuesday and quickly got us tickets. How exciting! Finally a chance to hear this girls’ chops live and in an intimate setting.

Tori is so precise with her vocals; clean and clear and her runs are like a smooth acrobatic dance. She did not disappoint. A YouTube sensation, this girl is fast becoming the next big thing and i am glad i got a chance to see her before the explosion. She’s a real talent and someone to keep an eye out for. I am only sorry i got to see her perform a few songs: a 30 minute late start and me having to be at work right after really put a damper on things. Still, i am glad i got to experience what i did — although she left me wanting more.
I captured two videos. This one here is a cover of Frank Ocean’s ‘Thinking About You’. The other you can find on my YouTube channel.
Thank you for being such a great date Mina, and thanks for the ticket! xo
