The Back Story
I bought the Dr. Hauschka face mask back in August of 2012 during my trip to Berlin. I knew nothing of the Dr. Hauschka line of skin care products but got raving reviews from the sales clerk and my friends. If you are familiar with traveling abroad, you will know that the water in Europe is quite hard, so it’s very harsh and damaging on your skin and hair. The product i was told is bomb! Plus, it seems i was getting it at a bargain price of only €20.
Once back in the states i noticed the packaging is written completely in…yeah, German. Nice! So i put it aside for a later date and eventually forgot all about it…that is until this past Tuesday – a rainy New York day. Perfect day for a facial experimentation.
I quickly took to Google and researched the product (in English), got my instructions, gathered all my necessary tools and went to work.
The very first thing i noticed is that the actual content was loose powder. It was actual Clay Mask. What? Ok. This could get messy guys.
I mixed the clay as instructed by this site:
- Mix one heaped teaspoon of powder to about one and a half teaspoons of water to create a soft paste.
- Apply the mask to your skin using a mask brush or your fingers, avoiding the immediate eye area.
- Dry and normal skin should leave it on for 5-10 minutes.
- Remove the mask with lots of warm water, then splash with cool water. Apply Facial Toner or Clarifying Toner, and your usual moisturizer.
I went for the 10 minutes. Maybe 12. See me and my silly mask wearing face in the first pic above. I’m SO hot!
First off, do you like how i’ve cleverly disguised the fact that i am bare faced by using distracting light spots? Yeah!
But really, my face looked and felt instantly clean. Purified if you will. It was smooth and soft to the touch. I looked awake and what’s more, i didn’t feel the need to moisturize immediately after. I was, and am, in awe of this product and wishing i had bought a couple more back home with me.
So in conclusion would i recommend this product? Absolutely. There’s definitely something positive to be said about Dr. Hauschka. I would love to go ahead and try everything in this line of skin care. It’s just a tad pricier here in the states than in Europe (time to schedule a trip i suppose). But yes, i highly recommend you go give it a try. It’s the best thing i could have done for my skin in a while.
