Barcelona came to be as impulsive decision.  A set of friends took advantage of a glitch from Delta Airline where they were able to purchase roundtrip tickets for $200.  CRAZY!  And another set had already decided to make Spain a destination.  It seemed the universe was leading us all to the Mediterranean sea. And at this point in my life, recently unemployed, and with a terminally ill mother to worry about, Barcelona was exactly what the doctor ordered.

We spent close to ten days in this amazing city.  We rented an entire apartment (courtesy of airbnb) in the historic Barrio Gotico area of downtown Barcelona.  The best part was the tiny balcony where we sat each morning drinking our coffee before heading out to the days adventure.  We were in a central location. Within walking distance of everything and anything that needed to be seen.

During our time there we experienced Las Ramblas, La Boqueria, the Picasso museum, beautiful cathedrals, saw the famous Christopher Columbus statue, witnessed Gaudi’s incredible designs: La Sagrada Familia, and Park Guell, ate tapas and drank cava like it was no ones business, got lost, ate some more and oh, what a wonderful time.

I will let the photos do all of the talking.  Te quiero Barcelona!

ps. the entire time i was there i developed a rare obsession with little old ladies resting on their balcony. The amount of photos i have of this – which seems to be a thing here – is almost embarrassing.
