Yesterday i had the pleasure of attending a media preview of The Illusionists | Witness the Impossible! Never one for magic tricks much less illusions, to say i was skeptic would be an understatement. However, and to my surprise i was left as such… surprised and impressed!
Executive Producer Tim Lawson and Creative Producer Simon Painter have taken The Illusionists to great heights. It has experienced great success performing packed shows at the Sydney Opera House, also playing in more than 50 cities in 15 countries! The act is now gearing up to tour across North America in the coming months with a residency first at the Marquis Theatre on Broadway. Opening night scheduled for December 4th.
For this particular day the audience consisted mainly of media. A quick introduction and narrations by the shows creative producer Simon Painter lead the hour. The Illusionists (or as Simon has refers to them, The Avengers of Magic) were presented to us. In the order in which i recognized them were: The Warrior, The Inventor, The escapologist, The Anti-Conjuror, The Trickster, The Futurist, The Manipulator
We witnessed four incredible acts: The Inventor, The Futurist, and The manipulator, and The Escapologist. By far my favorites were The Inventor and Escapologist. When i tell you my nerves were on edge, my nerves were on edge. I left partly a wreck after seeing a body split in half and another man struggling to free himself from a watery death. Phew! Intense and so good.
I wont go into details of what i saw – i think will defeat the purpose. Instead i urge you to grab your kid, your brother, lover, or your husband and book yourself some tickets. This will make for a great early christmas gift and for those looking to find how to entertain out of town guest, well, this is it. This show is by far one of the most intense i have seen in a while and it will leave you at the edge of your seats.
I’m really happy to have experienced this bit. Go hurry and grab your tickets here!
Happy Hump Day Lovers
(although its almost over)
